Friday Favorites: Thriller/Suspense, Horror, and Mystery Books

By: Mariah Brown

I am obsessed with the genre of suspense, horror, and mystery books. I thought I would do a Friday Favorite’s post on my favorite books in these genres. I am going to discuss my top 6 books in these genres.

The first book that every got me into these type of genres is Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas series. My mom introduced me to these books, and I fell in love fast. The twists and turns that Odd had to deal with were amazing. I wanted to continue to read his books and find more that were like this.

The next book that made me interested in thriller/suspense is Thr3e by Ted Dekker. The thrill within this book was not being able to guess what was happening in the end. No matter how hard I tried, none of my thoughts were right. I love books that keep me on my toes.

Ronald Malfi’s Little Girls is a great book with an ending that allows the reader to decide what happened in a sense. I highly recommend reading and then re-reading this book as you will catch things you did not the first time.

This next book is by an amazing author who a lot of people know, his name is Stephen King and the book is Pet Sematary. This book has a bunch of jump scenes that are awesome if you have a vivid imagination while you are reading.

The last book that I highly recommend is called The Woman in the Window by A. J. Finn. This book is a really good mystery that you will not want to set down. It is also a newer book that can easily be found in stores.

This last book may have some contradiction on whether it is good because there are a lot of mixed reviews on it. This series is known as the ‘Alphabet Series’. The first mystery book in it is A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton. This is the type of book that you either love or do not. Let me know you thoughts.

Let me know if you end up reading any of these books. If you do, comment below with how you liked them. If you did not like them, please tell me why; I always love hearing what others think. Also, if you have any favorite books in any of these genres, PLEASE comment below with them as I am always looking for new reads.
