TBR Tuesday: June

By: Cait Marie

Hello! Time for another TBR Tuesday! I know the month is almost half over, but here are the books I want to read/finish in June:

1. A Reaper at the Gates – Sabaa Tahir

This is the third book in the An Ember in the Ashes series and it was released today! It has been sitting on my side table for a week (thanks Amazon for the mess up). I felt like I needed to wait, and I’ve been too busy, to start it. It was so tempting, though! I read the other two like two years ago, so I’m excited for more of the story. I may have given in and started it last night… shhh.

2. Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn

I know, I am way late to this train, but I’m reading it now! I’m technically reading this for class, but it’s been on my TBR for a while. I have managed to avoid spoilers for years!! I didn’t even see the movie. I’m about halfway through this book and all I can say is wow. No wonder people went crazy about it (no pun intended).

3. The Gates of Golorath – R.M. Garino

I believe one would call this an epic fantasy, which is new to me. Just a year ago, this book would have been too intimidating for me to read. In the beginning I thought it might still be, but I kept going and I’m so glad I did! I love it so far! I am about 3/4 of the way through and anxious about it ending because there isn’t another book yet and Goodreads says it’s book 1 of a series.

4. Clockwork Princess – Cassandra Clare

This is the third book in The Infernal Devices trilogy. I am currently re-reading all of the Shadowhunter books in chronological order via audiobook. I’ve never listened to the audiobooks, but love them so far. This is the first time I have re-read The Infernal Devices since I originally read them in, I believe, 2010. It’s been a while and I have been saying for years that I wanted to read them again, so when I saw the audiobooks were available on Scribd, I decided to just go through all of them.

5. City of Bones – Cassandra Clare

I have mentioned Cassandra Clare is my favorite author, right? The top shelf of my biggest bookshelf is my designated Clare shelf, and the 12 Shadowhunter books I own consume most of the space (I don’t have Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy or The Shadowhunter’s Codex, but I have all the others, to my knowledge). I am hosting an online book club meeting this month and I got to choose whatever book I wanted. The meeting ended up needing to be on my birthday, so I chose the first book of my favorite series. City of Bones is the book I have read more than any other book I own, except a couple of the short children’s books I read when I was younger. I have read The Mortal Instruments series more than Harry Potter, and everyone knows I’m OBSESSED with Harry Potter.

6. Perks of Being a Wallflower – Stephen Chbosky

This is one of the books for another online book club this month. It is also a book that has been sitting on my shelf for over a year. I had a really rough time with the movie when it came out, so I have been putting the book off. I’m in a better place mentally now, though, so I think it will be fine. Plus, it’s one of my sister’s favorite books and she said if I read it she would read A Court of Thorns and Roses so…

7. The Assassin’s Blade – Sarah J. Maas

Speaking of Sarah J. Maas! We’re doing a series read of Throne of Glass and I don’t think I could be more excited! I decided to start with the novella this time around, even though I highly recommend against doing so if you haven’t read the series yet. This series is so intense and binge-worthy, and, of course, heartbreaking… I love it. I’m not even halfway through this and it’s already making me emotional because it’s a prequel and I know how it ends. If you have read it, you understand. Also, I do not think I am emotionally stable to read Empire of Storms again so soon, but I have a while before that one. 133 DAYS UNTIL KINGDOM OF ASH!!!

Have you read any of these? Are you excited to read anything specific this month? Let me know below!
