“Words are pale shadows of forgotten names. As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.”
Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind
Welcome to the Saturday Smorgasbord. It is my pleasure to welcome you, as well as show you around a bit. I am sure you have had the pleasure to enjoy the other parts of Functionally Fictional, which are all pretty much self-explanatory.
Here, though, things aren’t as easily categorized into just one thing or style. Some weeks there are going to be articles on reading or how important reading a certain kind of writing is. Other times there will be articles on writing and the writing process. As well as topics in between in books, writing, and reading.
Of course, since there have been more movies being made from books, you can expect at least a few posts comparing the book to the movie.
I already hear a bunch of people going, “The book is always better.”
That probably won’t be the discussion point of the posts comparing movies to books here, though. But you never know since anything can happen around here pretty much.
So, I hope your chair is nice and comfy, and we have both a coffee bar and an old-fashioned soda stand if you need a snack or something to drink. Feel free to ask questions and leave comments as always. Let the journey begin.
