Mariah’s Review of “Ignite Me” by Tahereh Mafi

By: Mariah Brown

I have previously written reviews on Shatter Me and Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi, which you should definitely read if you are interested in starting this series. I am here to discuss the amazing third book in the series, Ignite Me. This book picks up right after the ending of Unravel Me. This means I did not need to go back and re-read the end of Unravel Me to remember what happened. It had been a few days before I was able to start the next book, and I appreciated the consistency. So far, Ignite Me is my absolute favorite book in the series.

Juliette has finally started to realize that she can trust Warner, which eventually makes her friends wonder if she has gone crazy. I have officially grown on the relationship that has developed between Juliette and Warner. In the beginning, Juliette is still confused about how she emotionally feels about Warner because of Adam. Adam always made her feel safe, but she wanted more out of the relationship. When she is with Warner, she feels like she can do anything. I enjoy the character dynamics that happened between all three of them.

While all the events occurred between Adam, Warner, and Juliette. The plot of the book allowed me to keep my nose in the book. I could not put this down because of the action and descriptions involved. There were so many twists and turns throughout the book because you always expect one thing and the exact opposite happens. The way Tahereh Mafi authored this book was so smooth and elegant, it allowed the reality of the plot to sink in as a reader. The character development, especially Juliette’s, was intense and wonderful.

I highly recommend people continue this series. So far, I would re-read this series once I have finished it because it is that good. As a person who has not really been much into the Dystopian genre, I have entirely enjoyed this series so far. I give Ignite Me a 5/5-star rating because of all the action and excitement that occurred. It also has the most character development of all the books in the series. The was the best written book in the series, and I get the feeling that Tahereh Mafi’s writing will just keep getting more intense with suspense and excitement. I am excited to continue the series with Restore Me. I have to say that I am glad I started reading this series now when I knew there were more books instead of when she was first publishing them. I do not know if I could have handled the series ending with Ignite Me.
