Top Ten Tuesday: I Will Go Down With This Ship

By: Katie Robinson

Hey y’all! It’s Top Ten Tuesday, and today we’re going to talk about my ten favorite (at the moment) ships from books that I love. This list changes frequently, but this is where I’m at right now. Some of these couplings haven’t actually happened, but sometimes canon just doesn’t work for me.

Rhys x Feyre A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Favorite. Ship. Ever. I have shipped Rhys and Feyre since Under the Mountain, and I will ship them for the rest of my life. In all seriousness, this is probably the best love story I have ever read. Like, it got me so invested that it actually became a slight obsession that took over my life for a hot minute. Chapters 54 and 55 is really all I have to offer here. If that doesn’t prove why this is my favorite ship, nothing will.

Magnus x Alec The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

Can we take a minute to talk about the fact that Magnus Bane is the best? I don’t even know how to adequately describe my feelings about this ship. I just know that I love them together and I can’t picture them with anyone else without it physically causing me pain. I think that Magnus doesn’t get nearly as much happiness as he deserves, and Alec at least is a start to providing what he needs/deserves. Their relationship seems shrouded in mystery, and almost feels forbidden or taboo and I am here for it.

Will x Tessa The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

I’m not typically a fan of this brand of romance, but I genuinely love this ship. My heart broke multiple times while reading their story, but I never stopped hoping that the two of them would end up together. They went through so much that should have absolutely ripped them apart and caused them to hate each other for life, but somehow through it all, they managed to always find their way back to each other. Just ugh. It makes me feel like the Grinch with my heart growing three sizes.

Henry x Clare The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

This books guts me every single time that I read it. Like, with complete honesty, I can say that this is in my top ten favorite books ever. This ship is so complex, and it literally transcends time. It’s one of those ships where each time I reread the book, I pick up on different little pieces that I previously missed which highlight how well these characters mesh together.

Cassian x Azriel A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Can you even imagine how real the sass would be in this relationship? These two are already a force to be reckoned with just as friends/family. If they were ever more than that, it’s hard to even imagine how intense that would be. The battles for control, the snark, the hotness. At least there’s fanfic, am I right?

Manon x Dorian Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Who doesn’t love Manon and Dorian (and his phantom hands)? Manon is the fierce witch who eats men for breakfast (literally), and Dorian is just this precious little cinnamon roll. They challenge each other though, and there is fire between them that is undeniable. It was also really amazing to watch Manon transform from someone who felt unworthy or incapable of love, into someone who was seriously considering what a future with someone could look like.

Lorcan x Elide Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

So, basically, I love this ship because sweet and innocent little Elide just totally wrapped badass Lorcan around her finger without even trying. I mean… he was so into her that he handled her menstruation needs. I love the growth that Elide caused to happen within Lorcan, and who he became because of her. They are just perfect, and they ended up being two of my favorite characters from the entire series.

Will x Jem The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Okay, so I looooooooove Will and Tessa. I mean… basically I just love Will in general. He is amazing, and he has taught me valuable life lessons; like never trusting a duck. When you really look at how much Will sacrificed for Jem, and how pure the love he had for him was; it’s not really a big reach to see how these two would be perfect for each other.

Hermione x Luna Harry Potter by JK Rowling

I’m a fan of this ship just because I think that Hermione and Luna’s personalities would balance each other out so nicely. Hermione is conservative and seems more introverted, while Luna is more free spirited and extroverted. I think that Luna could remind Hermione to stop and have fun every once in a while, and Hermione would help keep Luna grounded in reality.

Abraxos x KeelieThrone of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Yup. I’m totes shipping wyverns here, and I’m not even the tiniest bit sorry about it. If you aren’t familiar with what happens between Abraxos and Keelie, you need to get reading. Make sure someone signs your permission slip for the feel trip you’re about to embark upon though. Just the story of Abraxos was already tugging at my heartstrings, and then SJM went ahead and ripped my heart out and threw it on the floor before performing an interpretive dance on it. I don’t want to get spoilery, but I legitimately ugly cried over this ship.
