Sarah J. Maas
This author is the reigning queen of romantasy. Her intricate worlds live in my mind rent free. I also love the relationships between her characters. I adore close-knit friendships that become a family. She has a good mix of humor and gut-wrenching plot twists that leave me bawling my eyes out.
Mikayla D. Hornedo
She is the author of The Hearts of Maya series. I love the way she incorporates Mayan and Aztec mythology in her books. She also has excellent spicy scenes and always leaves me wanting for the next book.
Aimee Carter
Aimee Carter is the author of The Goddess Test series and The Blackcoat Rebellion series. I love that she has no flat characters. Even the most minor characters have a backstory. Her main characters are forced to navigate new worlds they are forced into without notice. It makes for interesting reading and keeps readers on their toes.
Melissa Marr
Her Wicked Lovely series has had me in a chokehold for over a decade. It features a lot of different relationship dynamics. The world building is amazing, and I feel like there is something for everyone. The fae court intrigue is one of my favorite things, along with the long history of the fae courts.
Robin LaFevers
She was my introduction into the world of historical romantasy with her His Fair Assassins series. I loved the fact that they were daughters of Death and trained assassins who escaped horrible circumstances and found refuge with Death. It also made me research a part of French history I didn’t know about before reading these books.
Rebecca Yarros
Fourth Wing was my most read book of 2023. I loved her effortless inclusion, the portrayal of disability, and the hilarious dragons. She knows how to keep her readers engaged while putting their hearts through a meat grinder. I can’t wait to see what wild ride the remaining three books will bring.
