Friday Favorites: Main Characters

By: Mariah Brown

I know I have made a post about my favorite supporting characters, but now I want to talk about my favorite main characters. These characters are always being praised, and I think they need to be under the spotlight a little more.

My first main character is from a series I have recently read. Her name is Ana Halt, and she is from the series Bellaton by E. V. Everest. The first book is called Seven Crowns. I love Ana because she has some spunk to her. She had a rough childhood, with losing her mom and going into foster care, but then she found this whole other world, which made things seem easier, but that was just appearances. Ana knows how to handle herself, and she is a female character who I would love to be friends with.

The next main character I want to discuss is Ryan Evans, who is the father of a girl who has been kidnapped in Boneman’s Daughters by Ted Dekker. Ryan may not be the best of fathers because he is in the military and cannot always be around, but once his daughter has been kidnapped, he turns into someone every person would want as their father. He is relentless and goes to any lengths that it may take to get his daughter back. I really love Ryan because he reminds me of how my father would act if anything ever happened to me.

This set of main characters that I love is a trio. They are Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. I grew up with this trio, which is why I love them so much. To this day, when I read the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, I am always excited about it. That is because of these amazing characters. I truly loved when there were movies made as well to bring the characters to life even more. I love how Hermione keeps Ron and Harry in check no matter what is going on. Some would say Hermione and Ron are supporting characters, but I believe they are main characters just as much as Harry is.

This main character I was just recently introduced to because I just started reading Laura Greenwood and Arizona Tape’s books, but I absolutely love Amethyst, who also goes by Amy, in the series Amethyst’s Wand Shop series which starts with Hexes and Vexes. Amy is sarcastic and has a bit of a way with persuading her way into situations. Plus, Amy is a witch, and who doesn’t love a witch around? They always make things more interesting. She is so well written and makes you want to read more. I cannot wait for the future books that are going to come out because I cannot get enough of this main character. She even has a stone cat named Herbert, whom I love. Amy and I would definitely be friends if she was a real person. We would get along just fine.

The last character I am going to talk about is from Laura Greenwood’s Paranormal Criminal Investigation series. Book one is Spell Caster. Cassie is a witch, again who doesn’t love a witch, and she helps solve crimes with her powers and her science skills. These two combined make for awesome adventures and stories. I really love these books and cannot wait until the rest are released. Cassie makes me want to keep reading the books. Laura wrote her very well and gave her so much life that you can’t help but love her. I really think others would love her as much as I do.

These are just some of my favorite main characters. If you have any favorite main characters who I should check out, please let me know in the comments. I am always looking for new characters to fall in love with or to wonder if we would be friends if they were real.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!
