Birthday Book Tag

By: Cait Marie

Hello, hello! I saw this tag a couple weeks ago done by Kristin @Kristin Kraves Books, and I had to save it for today because… It’s my birthday! The big 3-0. My family is being extra sneaky about what’s going on. I can’t wait!

But enough of that. Let’s jump in!

BIRTHDAY CAKE – a book with a plot that seems cliché but you adore it anyway

The Upside of Falling – Alex Light

It’s the clichĂ© fake dating YA romance with the jock and quiet girl. It had all the tropes you’d expect, but I loved it. I read the whole thing in one night because it was just so cute and fluffy.

PARTY GUESTS – your most anticipated book release this year

That’s already released:

A Court of Silver Flames – Sarah J. Maas

Nessian is everything. That is all.

That hasn’t released yet:

A Psalm of Storms and Silence – Roseanne A. Brown

I absolutely loved the first book last year and cannot wait for this sequel! I need to know what happens!!

BIRTHDAY PRESENTS – a book that surprised you with how much you loved it

Dragon Rising – M. Lynn

It wasn’t a surprise that I liked the book (she’s one of my favorite authors), but I was not expecting it to become one of my favorite books of all time. This Mulan retelling exceeded expectations to say the least.

THE HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG – a book that certainly deserved all the hype it got

Oath Taker – Audrey Grey

This series is so, so good. So good. I’m obsessed. It absolutely deserves the hype.

HAPPY MUSIC – a book with some very beautiful and truly memorable quotes

A Court of Mist and Fury – Sarah J. Maas

“To the stars who listen and the dreams that are answered.”

GETTING OLDER – a book that you read a long time ago, but you think that you would appreciate it more if you read it as a more mature reader

A Great and Terrible Beauty – Libba Bray

I read this series in either late middle school or early high school, and it destroyed me. It still would, but I am curious as to how I would appreciate the rest of the story now that I read more.

SWEET BIRTHDAY MEMORIES – a book that kept you incredibly happy during a sad or demanding period of your life

Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston

This book… it’s perfection. The turkey scene is literally my favorite thing of all time. It’s hilarious, and it really helped to re-read it last year while anxious in quarantine.
