Review

*I received a free advanced copy of this book from the author for my honest opinion.*

First of all, I feel like I should point out that I don’t read nonfiction. Ever. So, for Theodore to keep my interest was a feat in and of itself. World building fascinated me long before I started writing, and now that I’m an author, I know how vital it is to a story.

Theodore breaks down the different parts of world building into seven topics: politics, economy, religion, social, intellectual, art, and nature. There are tips throughout each, guiding authors along the process. Whether you’re writing speculative fiction and creating all new worlds or contemporary fiction set in the world as we know it, this book is a wonderful tool. It will help bring these settings and people to life, and in doing so, enrich the plot.

Plus, the illustrations by Holla Watson along the way are just so adorable and perfect. They’re very fitting for the topics.

I will absolutely be returning to this book time and time again. I’m already looking forward to using it for my next series!
