Happy Wednesday, Functionally Fictional readers!

I hope your New Year is going well! It feels great to be back on the team and writing another WWW Wednesday post. I have been super busy with school, teaching, and making plans for my young adult fantasy novel. It has been a great honor to be in a wonderful writing community, and I am so thankful for the many opportunities I have been given. I am starting to receive multiple book review requests, and I will be working on a new book project soon, so I will have lots of book recommendations to share with all of you. My reading list keeps growing because some of my favorite authors have been releasing new books over the last few months, and I have been spreading out into different genres due to the book review requests, so here’s an update on my reading journey.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly reading update hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

The Three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Here’s what’s going on in my book world this week:

What are you currently reading?

This week I’m reading Head Over Heels by Becca Baldwin and Love is a Dance Step by Michelle MacQueen.

Love is a Dance Step is a contemporary romance novel written by the amazing best-selling author, Michelle MacQueen. It is a part of Michelle MacQueen’s new book series, Rockstar Anonymous, which features one rock star support group, five talented stars, four swoony romances, and family drama and friends supporting each other to live out their dreams. I still can’t believe I get to read an advance copy. I love all the characters and can’t wait to share more in my book review when I finish reading the book.

Becca Baldwin is an international-selling, contemporary romance author and the creator of The Girl Gone Crazy series. Head Over Heels is a short story that correlates with the author’s book series. I haven’t had the chance to read the novel, but I definitely will after falling in love with the main characters, Haley and Joel. Joel and Haley have a unique love story that I enjoy reading about despite some romance being a bit too descriptive. Still, I understand the author wants to show her readers a real connection when two people meet and fall in love with each other. I am enjoying the story very much and look forward to reading more. The story is heartwarming, comical, and full of adventure.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Lost Legends is an entertaining, captivating, magical, young adult fantasy novel written by debut author Cait Marie. I am proud of my best friend for publishing a story that she had her heart and mind set on for a long time. I am so honored to be writing this review, and words can’t explain how happy I feel. Cait Marie creates an adventure-packed, fairytale-like story with a touch of Disney elements. The story features Princess Adalina and her brother, Prince Shane. The plot of the story, which I absolutely love, is Adalina’s belief that the story her mother told her as a child is real. As a little girl, her mother told her the tale of legendary warriors who were cursed by her ancestors named the Nihryst.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Next on my reading list is Rachel Lippincott’s All This Time and Shadowland by Mila Young.

What have you been reading? What books are you excited for in 2021?

Let me know in the comments.
