Hello, Functionally Fictional readers!
It’s an honor to join Cait Marie and the fantastic blog she has created for all book lovers out there. I am so excited to work with everyone at Functionally Fictional, and I can’t thank Cait Marie enough for giving me this opportunity and for all of the help she has given me. It’s an honor and blessing to call her a friend. I don’t get a lot of time for pleasure reading, but I enjoy reading young adult fiction, fantasy, cozy mysteries, and contemporary romances. Some of my favorite authors are Cassandra Clare, John Green, Nicholas Sparks, Suzanne Collins, and many more.
WWW Wednesday is a weekly reading update hosted by Taking on a World of Words. I haven’t read as many books as my best friend, Cait, but I have read a couple of intriguing books over the last few months.
The Three Ws are:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Here’s what’s going on in my book world this week:
What are you currently reading?
I have started reading a few books the past two weeks; I’m not going to list all of them because it would probably take up two pages or more, but I’ll name a couple.
Bridge to Us is a contemporary romance novel that I’m reading for review, but I am enjoying the story better than I expected. It’s a compelling novel about a nurse who is struggling to understand why her husband packed up all his belongings and moved out of their apartment while she was at work. I don’t want to give too much away, but this novel has gotten me on an emotional roller-coaster. My favorite thing about this novel so far is how the author describes the character’s surroundings in such detail that I feel like I can see her apartment and what she is doing. Don’t worry, I will be giving you a full review of this novel later this month.
I started reading The Soul Thief by Kim Richardson a few months ago, and I plan on picking up where I left off this week. I have only read a few pages, and it’s not like any young adult fantasy book I have ever read. All I know right now is the main character is in a strange place and I think she’s dead. I can’t wait to read more, it’s so good!
What did you recently finish reading?
The most recent book I finished reading was my textbooks for my editing class. We have been reading Susan Bell’s The Artful Edit and Noah Lukeman’s The First Five Pages. Both books describe in detail how to macro and micro edit your manuscripts for publication. These are excellent guide books for indie authors and for writers who want to learn how to edit their work.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Technically, I already started this, but I didn’t read much–just a chapter or two.
Did I mention my favorite author is Cassandra Clare? This book has been sitting on my bookcase for at least six months, and I haven’t had the time to read it. It’s calling my name!
