I saw this done by Dominique over at Dear Dominique and thought it was a fun, different type of tag. Plus, we all know the book addiction is real. I got 64 just in April!
Alright, let’s get started…
What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?
A few hours. I read every day–in between tasks, when I first wake up, and before I go to sleep.
How many books do you carry on your person (or Kindle) at any one time?
When I leave the house, I take at least one physical book with me. I also have at least 5-10 downloaded on the Kindle app on my phone.
Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?
Yes, I keep them. The thought of getting rid of them physically hurts me.
How long would you spend in a bookshop on a standard visit?
Because I depend on someone to drive me, and I don’t live close to a bookstore, my visits are limited. I’ve been dropped off before and spent a few hours in there, but I could’ve stayed longer. I don’t think I’d have a problem staying all day.
How much time per day do you actually spend reading?
Added up, probably at least 2-3 hours. Often it’s more…
Where does the task ‘picking up a book’ appear on your daily to-do list?
Usually at the end, but it doesn’t always happen that way.
How many books do you reckon you own in total (including e-books)?
Total? It’s around 500-550, I think… I haven’t counted in a while.
Approximately how often do you bring up books in conversation?
Too often. People who don’t read are probably annoyed by me.
What is the biggest book (page count) you have finished reading?
I believe that award goes to Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas at 987 pages. (Review here)
Is there a book you had to get your hands on against all odds, i.e. searching bookshops, online digging, etc.
Well, my personalized signed copy of The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu was probably the most “I have to have it” book. I also managed to get ARC beforehand by total surprise. Both are incredibly important to me. (Review and story of getting the ARC here)
A book you struggled to finish but refused to DNF?
The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I thought I was struggling because I’d seen the movie first, so I was determined to finish and move on to the second one. I ended up DNF’ing the second book, though.
What are 3 of your main book goals for 2019?
- To read every day.
- To read at least one book in three different genres outside of YA.
- To read 100+ books. (My Goodreads goal is technically 130)
Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?
I think I’ve helped in getting my youngest sister into reading. I don’t think I’m solely responsible for it, though.
Describe what books mean to you in 5 words.
Happiness and way of living.
