Friday Favorites: Harry Potter Characters

By: Cait Marie

In honor of the O.W.L.s Magical Readathon, I thought I’d do something a bit different. Everyone knows I love Harry Potter, but what most people don’t know is that Harry is actually one of my least favorite characters in the series. Now, that’s not to say I don’t like him. There are just a lot of characters I like more than him…

So, here are my five favorite characters from the Harry Potter series:

1. Hermione Granger

Hermione has been my favorite fictional character of all time since I was 9 years old. She was the character I identified with growing up.

She was everything I wanted to be and a great role model.

2. Neville Longbottom

Duh. He’s the best. I have a whole argument about him being the true hero of the story.

He fought for what’s right from beginning to end, not out of obligation or a prophecy but because he was brave enough to do so.

Me with my signed picture Matthew Lewis left for me at Comic Con!

3. Ginny Weasley

Ginny’s a freaking badass and the movies did not do her justice. I think Bonnie Wright was perfect for the part, but the writers should have given her character the attention she deserved.

She was another who was always fighting for what’s right and showing her bravery. She was also just a super awesome and powerful witch. Again, I’m really salty she was in the shadows so much. Even in the books, she could’ve been bigger because of how powerful she was.

4. Luna Lovegood

I love Luna and her awkward quirkiness. She’s not afraid to be herself and that’s something I really needed to see growing up.

I remember when she was introduced, thinking “She’s so weird.” It was like I felt embarrassed for her. It wasn’t until I was a little older that I realized what I was actually feeling was this connection as an outcast. Unfortunately, it took a while to embrace my inner-Luna.

5. & 6. Fred and George Weasley

Okay, I couldn’t just pick one more because they come as a pair. Fred and George are not afraid to fight, but they also understand the importance of making people laugh.

In such dark, difficult times, Fred and George were always able to make people smile.

My sister and I with James and Oliver Phelps! Best day ever! I cried so hard…

Who are your favorites?
