Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Books Releasing During the Second Half of 2024

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

There have been so many amazing books that were released in the first half of 2024, and it looks like the second half of 2024 has some pretty exciting books in store for readers. Which is really good news for readers, but bad news for our pockets. Since I already do posts about my ARCs, I wanted to challenge myself this week. I decided to choose anticipated books releasing during the second half of 2024, but only selected books that I don’t have ARCs for. In chronological order, here’s ten books I’m really anticipating for the rest of the year:

  1. The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali (July 2, 2024) — I read another book by this author (my mom recommended it) and was blown away by how good it was, so naturally I’m expecting this one to be equally amazing.
  2. The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman (July 16, 2024) — It’s an Arthurian fantasy with a really interesting twist, where the heroes aren’t who you expect, but they’re drawn from the second string, so to speak.
  3. Feh: A Memoir by Shalom Auslander (July 23, 2024) — I enjoy a good memoir as much as the next person, and this one sounds like it’s got quite the story to tell.
  4. What Have You Done? by Shari LaPena (July 30, 2024) — If you are a fan of mystery/thriller stories and you haven’t read a book by Sherri LaPena yet, you’re missing out and should pick one of her books up. Soon.
  5. Worst Case Scenario by T.J. Newman (August 13, 2024) — Newman has found her niche with airplane-themed thrillers, but this one seems to be a bit different from the previous two with the situation, and I’m pretty stoked about it.
  6. This is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter (August 20, 2024) — In for a penny, in for a pound, right? I’ve been hooked on the Will Trent series since book one, and I’m just as eager to start book twelve as I was to start book two.
  7. Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma (September 3, 2024) — A debut author writing dark academia mixed with romance and fantasy and vampires? Do I actually have to say anything more to explain why this is on my list this week?
  8. Night Owls by A.R. Vishny (September 17, 2024) — I’m so psyched about this one, a debut YA paranormal queer romance featuring Jewish folklore and mystery.
  9. We Kept Her in the Cellar by W.R. Gorman (September 24, 2024) — I can’t resist a good twist on a fairy tale, like this one where Cinderella is the monstrous character holding the household hostage to her whims.
  10. The Kiss of the Nightingale by Adi Denner (October 1, 2024) — This YA fantasy sounds so interesting, set in an alternate version of 19th century Paris with what sounds like nods to Phantom of the Opera and Bridgerton.

Do we have any anticipated reads in common? Which books are you looking forward to reading in the second half of 2024?
