Cait’s Review of “It Sounded Better in My Head” by Nina Kenwood

By: Cait Marie

Blurb

When her parents announce their impending divorce, Natalie can’t understand why no one is fighting, or at least mildly upset. Then Zach and Lucy, her two best friends, hook up, leaving her feeling slightly miffed and decidedly awkward. She’d always imagined she would end up with Zach one day―in the version of her life that played out like a TV show, with just the right amount of banter, pining, and meaningful looks. Now everything has changed, and nothing is quite making sense. Until an unexpected romance comes along and shakes things up even further.

Review

I listened to this audiobook after finishing Unnecessary Drama, which I adored… but this one didn’t quite do it for me. I enjoyed it, but it’s been about a month and a half since I read it, and I could not tell you anything specific about the plot.

Don’t get me wrong, I remember really liking it. But it just wasn’t that memorable, to be honest. I don’t know if it’s because of the book itself or if I just read it too quickly and didn’t absorb it as much as usual. It was a fun read, and I flew through it. I remember thinking it was relatable in ways. The characters were great, if I recall. The story itself though is basically gone from my mind, with only bits and pieces remaining.

I’ll definitely still be looking for more books by this author in the future. If you’re wanting something a little lighter, and a good coming of age story, I do recommend it.

I did give it 4 stars on Goodreads. I just can’t tell you anything specific that I really liked or disliked.
