Manuela’s ARC Review of “If We Pretend” by Chrissy Hopewell

By: Manuela Soares

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I haven’t read any fake dating stories in a long time, and this one caught my eye. It’s so cute and such an emotional journey. Reese and Oliver are such great characters that feel so real, and I loved reading how their relationship evolved through the book. So many stories that feature the Fake Dating trope are aged at younger audiences, and I like that the MMCs in this are in their 30s and that she is the older one; I haven’t read any like that.

It goes back and forth between Reese’s and Oliver’s POVs, and it adds a lot of depth to the story since we get to see everything happening from both perspectives, and it’s in first person. There are a few spicy scenes but they work within the story, they aren’t just there to be there.

If all of Hopewell’s works are written like this, I have a feeling that I’ll be expanding my TBR list even more. If you enjoy fake dating, sports romance, single mom/dad tropes, & hot Scots, this is a story for you.

A massive thank you to Chrissy Hopewell and R&R Book Tours for an eARC of this to read and review.
