Manuela’s Review of “Jemma and the Raven” by B.D. Reeves

By: Manuela Soares

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a fantastic read! It was well written and I enjoyed how it unfolded. In a world where memories are palpable, and there’s something out there that wants them, what is a person to do?

Jemma is a fantastic character, and alongside her companion Raven, Edgar, they go on wild adventures hunting down treasures. This relationship is the heart of the story and brings so much depth to the overall plot. I enjoyed the magic system in this, and though it did leave me with a few questions, it was integrated nicely and worked so well. The author’s note at the end gives more information on the thought process behind everything, the inspiration behind the memory magic, and more. The pace is decent, it ebbs and flows, and works well with Reeves’ writing style. This brings a unique outlook to the fantasy genre and it was nice to read a YA book that felt like it was actually YA and not trying to pass as it.

A massive thank you to B.D. Reeves and R&R Book Tours for a digital copy of this to read and review.
