“All aboard the Jolly Roger-if you dare.”
Retellings and mythology are two of my favorite types of stories to read as I love seeing how someone can take something so well-known and loved and spin it to make it something new and exciting. This mixes some Greek mythology with bits of Peter Pan and creates a world that is so easy to get sucked into.
When being born female in the royal line becomes a fate worse than death, Scarlet, has had to watch as her older sisters are married off to monsters and the majority of them killed; and now, she’s next. Enter Sebastian, the recently deceased Captain Hook’s son, a man with secrets and the one Scarlet ends up marrying. These two enemies-to-lovers have their secrets that are revealed along their journey and the story unfolds to an incredible end.
Aggie does a spectacular job writing this, the world is amazing and the characters are written beautifully. If you’re in the mood for a dark fantasy story with pirates, magic, adventure, and spice, this is a fantastic choice.
Though this is the second book in the series, this is not a continuation but rather another book in the universe, so you don’t have to read “This Wicked Fate” to read or understand this one.
There are a fair few triggers in this book, so be sure to check them out BEFORE reading.
A big thank you to Amanda Aggie and R&R Book Tours for a digital copy of this to read and review.
