So, I have read the first two books in this series, which is called Paranormal Criminal Investigations series. This book, Familiar Magic by Laura Greenwood, is number 1.5 in the series. It explains the gap between books 1 and 2, which I noticed but didn’t realize there was a book that took place between those ones until recently.
I first want to start out by saying this story filled in some major gaps that were happening and answered a few questions that I had after reading the second story.
I absolutely love the connection between all of the characters, and they flow so smoothly together. This book just enforced the connections even more and brought up typical questions paranormals would ask about each other since they aren’t the same type.
I have yet to find a Laura Greenwood book that I was disappointed in, and this one is no different. I loved the plot and how everyone had to once again put their ideas together, and they found themselves in a predicament but were able to think logically.
I did not expect the ending, though. If you read this book, you will understand why. The ending did make sense as to why it happened, but the murderer was not even in my preview of being the criminal. This makes me enjoy the story even more when I can’t solve the crime.
I rate this book a 5/5 stars. I highly recommend readers to read this story after the first one and before the second as it will follow the plot a lot smoother. Anyone who loves investigation books and the paranormal should definitely give this series a whirl!
