I want to start off by saying boy this book was awesome, but there are some trigger warnings I want to include now: potential sexual assault and discussed sexual abuse between a stepfather and stepdaughter.
Now that the TW’s are discussed, let’s dive into the book. The descriptions of the school the characters attend were great. We got to see the library, dorms, different classrooms, and even a basement. What is the most interesting part is the type of characters they are in the book. Can you believe it’s a school for angels?!
I enjoy the class descriptions and how they fight and do sports. There is so much involved, and I don’t want to give too much away, but the imagination of J. A. Roles is amazing!!!
Now, let’s get on with the characters. Lexi is a new angel who starts attending the academy and, throughout the story, gets involved with Hell’s Harem. Lexi’s friend warns her about that group and to stay away. Without giving the story away, she is very intrigued by this group, but she can’t understand why. You have to read what happens and figure out why she gets involved with them in the first place.
I absolutely love the description that was provided by the author for Lexi. She seems to be independent and able to do things on her own. She doesn’t need support from anyone. I love a strong female character in stories.
The group of guys Lexi shouldn’t be getting involved with start to learn a lesson about what good and evil really mean. It makes the characters come to life for me since everyone is trying to figure out the difference in the real world and may not always choose the correct path the first time.
I give this book a 5/5 stars and highly recommend it for people who love to see the characters change drastically throughout the story or who just enjoy reading about an academy full of angels. I can’t wait for the second book. I know it’ll be just as good or better.
