Manuela’s Review of “A Cursed Throne” by D.M. Simmons

To preface, this is technically part of a series though as the author states, it can be read on its own though it’s highly recommended that you read the first two books. Now, as this is part of a book tour, I did not read the first two books, but now that I’ve finished this I can say that it can be read as a standalone. It provides enough information to tell the backstory to understand the things mentioned. It did however make me very curious to read those books, so naturally, they’re now on my ever-expanding TBR.

This was a 3.5-star read for me, it was a good read and I did like the plot and the ‘mystery’ in it that will hopefully be continued and expanded on in the next installment. I want to know more about the Augury and what their plans are, and the powers that Nev has. I’m also a little curious as to how the relationship between Nev, Declan, Luca, and Kai will evolve. With Nev being part angel, part daemon, and part mortal, each one of the guys represents one of those aspects, so I want to know how that will influence and change Nev as she uncovers her powers. I’m looking forward to what’s to come.
