Speed. It’s what I crave and it’s what I do. I lace up my skates or hop on my motorcycle and keep searching for that next adrenaline rush. I’m used to hopping from one girl to the next just as fast. What can I say? I like a quick and easy hookup with no strings.
No one has ever made me want to come back for more until Morgan Huff. She’s supposed to be off-limits — her brother, Patrick, is the team captain. And he doesn’t hesitate to go after any guy who so much as looks at her. But we’ve already crossed the line and there’s no going back. I just can’t get enough of this girl.
She’s risking her relationship with her brother and I’m potentially risking my place on the team. What we have can only exist in secret, but I’d gamble it all to be near her. What Patrick doesn’t know can’t hurt him, right?
Review
Abby is a new author to me, but I’m absolutely hooked after this book.
I’m a sucker for hockey romance, so I was excited to read Speed Skating. It did not disappoint. The characters were great and had amazing chemistry, and I really, really loved that it started as them becoming friends.
Morgan is the younger sister of the hockey team’s captain, and Nils is one of his teammates. She’s very involved with the team, attending events and helping with PR stuff, so these two knew each other but weren’t close. I am really glad that it showed them becoming friends before diving straight into the romance; it gave them a solid foundation to build from and led to great development.
This book does have steamy romance, but it’s not the focus of the story. There are only a few scenes, and they are detailed but not overly graphic. It was well done.
My only complaint is that the book was on the shorter side. I wanted more (lol). I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. It’s the second in the Chicago Velocity series, but it can be read as a standalone. I need to go read the first book now, and I cannot wait for the third!
