Happy Friday, and happy holidays! Avid readers all have books that made us the readers we are today. Here are a few of the books that take me back to when I discovered my love of books.

The Poky Little Puppy by Jenette Sebring Lowrey

This was the first book I was obsessed with as a child. The story is about a puppy who gets distracted by different things on his way home and gets sent to bed without dinner. I related to him because I have a large family and I’ve been known to get distracted often .

The Magic Tree House Series by Mary Pope Osborne

The Magic Tree House Series tells the story of siblings Jack and Annie, who find a magical tree house that takes them on all sorts of adventures in the past and present. These books are special to me because they were one of the first series I read when I was younger. New books are still being released today, and I’m happy to know kids can fall in love with The Magic Tree House like I did.

The Artemis Fowl Series by Eoin Colfer

This series was my way of coping with the fact that I couldn’t read Harry Potter right away. Artemis Fowl tells the adventures of a young boy genius who likes to steal magical artifacts. I feel like this series is underrated because it came out with a lot of other popular books during its time.

The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

This series was the first series where I was a part of a fandom. Harry Potter was my introduction to midnight showings, book release parties, and fanfiction. It will forever hold a special place in my heart because it showed me my first book community.
