Sarah J. Maas
The brilliant Caitlin Haines recommended Throne Of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses a few years ago, and she is definitely in my top five authors now. I love her world building and action sequences. Her characters make me laugh, and I love to imagine them doing normal things like shopping and hanging out with friends. I loved A Court of Frost and Starlight for that reason.
Melissa Marr
My sister recommended Wicked Lovely to me in high school, and she quickly became one of my favorites. She has the perfect mix of horror and humor. I’m excited she is re-entering the world of Wicked Lovely with a new series. I’ve missed her take on the Fae.
Marissa Meyer
My sister recommended her to me a few years ago. She tends to combine fairytale elements with science fiction and steampunk. I’m currently reading Winter, which is the fourth book in The Lunar Chronicles. I also love her because she is a frequent participant in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).
Brigid Kemmerer
Caitlin recommended A Curse So Dark and Lonely to me a few years ago. It’s a Beauty and The Beast retelling. The main heroine has Cerebral Palsy. I also have Cerebral Palsy, and she isn’t whiny like most authors tend to write characters with disabilities. I’m curious to continue the rest of The Cursebreaker Series and her new spin-off series.
Maria V Snyder
My sister recommended The Study Series to me in high school. It’s one of my favorites because Poison Study starts with the main character about to be executed for crimes against the empire. She is pardoned if she becomes the food taster for the Emperor of Ixia. I recently discovered she added two more books and a few more novellas to the series. I love that the story is not over, and the series is now one of my top recommendations for others.
