Top Ten Tuesday: Book Covers and Titles

Not only are the titles for these books eye catching, but the covers for them are beautiful. I loved this series and would have no problem reading it over and over again. Seriously, mythology and mystery wrapped into one, with a non-annoying (to me at least) protagonist and some “oh, bugger” situations, this series is *chefs kiss* fantastic!

I think this was a series I found on Amazon, but I remember the covers being intriguing and matching the colors of the titles, and the titles had me curious. I loved the series, and it’s another that I would have no problem picking up and reading again.

This one, I picked up for the cover, though the title did intrigue me. The cover is a beautiful blue with flowers around the edges and a gold apothecary bottle in the middle; I simply find it glorious. It was a good book, some parts left me wanting more, but overall it was a good read. I think I read it in about four and a half hours.

This is one where the title caught my attention before I ever saw the cover. I read about this one somewhere and wanted to check it out because I like fairy tales, especially retellings because each author brings something new to them. Also, I’ve heard that Holly Black is a wonderful writer and a great storyteller.

So, this one, I found through Instagram, as the author’s reel of it kept popping up. This is her debut novel and the first in what appears to be a series. I haven’t read it yet, just got it from my library, but this cover is beautiful and intriguing. There are a lot of elements to it that have me guessing what it may be about (I’m likely wrong), so I’m looking forward to reading this over the next week or two. 

I just recently found this one when perusing the mythology section of my library’s eBooks (I love Libby!). I’ve said it before, but I love books that involve mythology, be they fiction or non-fiction. The cover and title for this caught my eye, and it just made me want to borrow it and give it a read (I only just started it, so can’t say much about it other than it’s not bad so far). It’s part of a series that has six books so far, and all of the covers are gorgeous.

I got this from a Goodreads Giveaway, and it was the title that caught my attention; I’m not fond of the cover on the eBook version.

This was another Goodreads Giveaway win, and it was the cover that got me. Like The Lost Apothecary, this is a blue cover with flowers, but it’s a lighter blue and well, I seem to have a thing for blue covers with flowers. This book is classed as a Victorian gothic mystery, according to the Kindle information, so I’m looking forward to it; I enjoy these types of books.

At first glance, there is nothing overly remarkable about any of these covers or their titles, and I think it’s that minimalist approach to it that drew me to them. Most covers are in your face, so seeing one that is so simple yet meaningful is attention grabbing when in a sea of color and images. It’s been ages since I read this series, but I remember enjoying it and counting down the time until the next and then the last books came out.

I’m pretty sure this was a free kindle book at some point years ago, but the cover is what got me as the version that I have is of what looks like an old mortuary, specifically the wall of drawers where the bodies are kept, with one drawer open and the table extended out. It’s a great cover and the summary is intriguing.
