Top Ten Tuesday : TV Series To Be Watched

By: Stephanie Wyatt

I think everyone goes through periods where they watch a lot of television. This is me right now; I have Law & Order reruns on in the background. Here are the top ten shows that I need to either catch up on, start, or finish.

Bridgerton

Streaming Platform: Netflix

I’ve been excited for Bridgerton since I saw that it was a historical drama that featured Black people in a prominent role. I watched the first five episodes. I read a spoiler a few weeks ago, but I’m still curious to see how everything unfolds.

ER

Streaming Platform: Hulu

I have always heard that ER is the best medical drama that has been on television. I watched the first few episodes, and I can see why people think that. I haven’t been able to dedicate as much time as I want to go through the episodes. I hope to get back to it soon.

Girlfriends

Streaming Platform: Netflix

I love stories about friends and their adventures. This series features a group of young women of color who are best friends. I like the fact that these are young women in their late 20s/early 30s. There is a character for everybody. Maya is a married woman with a kid, Joan is a successful junior partner, Toni is a materialistic relator, and Lynn is a free spirit. I am a few seasons in, and I am hooked.

Arrow

Streaming Service: Netflix

I started this series because I was bored one day. Halfway through the first season, I was hooked. I have watched the first seven seasons. I was waiting for the last season when COVID-19 hit, and I started other shows. This is the first series in the CW’s Arrowverse  I’m curious to see how the series ends.

The Flash

Streaming Service: Netflix

This is the second show in the CW’s Arrowverse. I wasn’t a huge Flash fan before I watched this show. It has everything I love though: interracial relationships, a cast with good chemistry, and a decent story.

Supergirl

Streaming Service: Netflix

I think this is the next show in the Arrowverse. This is probably my favorite of the five shows. I think there are eight shows now. Lexie from Grey’s Anatomy is Alex Danvers, and she is such a boss character. I love all of the friendships in the show.

Legends of Tomorrow

Streaming Service: Netflix

This used to be my least favorite of the current Arrowverse shows. I thought it was just a way to bring together everyone’s favorite side characters from the Arrowverse. Then, they added time travel. The series gets better as the seasons continue. The characters grow into their own, and it’s entertaining to watch them play with history.

This Is Us

Streaming Service: Hulu, Peacock

This is the series that made everyone cry a few years ago. I’m only a few episodes behind, but I’m curious to see how the Pearsons are doing.

New Amsterdam

Streaming Service: Hulu ,Peacock

This is a medical drama that you need if you are exhausted by the current healthcare system. The main character likes to turn the red tape of his hospital. Martha from Doctor Who plays Helen Sharp who is my favorite.

The Office

Streaming Service: Peacock

I have spent years being told I need to watch this show. It’s a modern cult classic. I will watch it eventually. I’m convinced by everyone around me that I will enjoy it. I hope they are right.

Have you watched any of these? What are you watching right now? Let me know in the comments.
