Jumping straight into the sequel from last month reviewing Aurora Rising, I wasn’t as thrilled with this book as I was it predecessor. While the plot still is exciting, and we still get to see growth and find out more about the squad and the growing relationships between them, I couldn’t focus on the story at hand.
It seemed to be a slow burn type read; while the plot was moving forward, I was stuck trying to remember what had just happened and how we got to the next stop on the journey. It’s hard to place my finger on why exactly I couldn’t focus on this story, and it might have just been the mood I was in.
Still, I enjoyed the characters again. It was great to see them grow and change after what had occurred in the book before. I plan to put this back on the shelf and try again to see if I might enjoy it more on a second try.
