The Reading Rush 2019 TBR

By: Cait Marie

Hello, hello! I apologize for the lack of posts lately. Between school, Functionally Fictional, Coffee House Writers, and YA Books Central, I am working on juggling what feels like a million things at once. Apart from book reviews, I’m finally caught up and in a good place now.

So, I thought it would be fun to participate in The Reading Rush (formerly the BookTubeAThon) to help knock some of these books off the TBR pile. The Reading Rush was created by Ariel and Raeleen. It is a week-long reading challenge with seven prompts that runs from July 22-28. You can choose which to do, or go for all seven. There are also activities like Read-Ins and Giveaways!

Keep scrolling to see the books I’m going to attempt to get through. I promise to only include one Kasie West book, and none of them are re-reads!

*You do not have to have a YouTube channel to participate!*

For more information, you can watch the video here.
Learn more about the different prompts here.
Be sure to visit their website to sign up and keep track of your challenges.

Here are the seven prompts (I’m listing a book for each because I’m an ambitious mood reader):

Read a book with purple on the cover.

Broken Throne – Victoria Aveyard

I still haven’t read this! I pre-ordered a signed B&N exclusive like 6 months before it came out, but I’ve been too busy to just sit and read it.

Read a book in the same spot the entire time.

Hunter’s Truce – Elle Beaumont

This sounds like an intriguing, relatively-short fantasy, of which I already have a review copy!

Read a book you meant to read last year.

The Cruel Prince – Holly Black

Yep, that’s right. I still haven’t read The Cruel Prince. It’s been staring at me from my shelf for over a year. I know pretty much everything about it, though. I feel like I’m part of the fandom without having read the actual books.

Read an author’s first book.

Falling – MJ Greenway

I don’t know a lot about this book, but it sounds cute and full of emotion. I just so happen to already have a review copy!

Read a book with a non-human main character.

Wicked Fox – Kat Cho

I’ve heard nothing but praise for this book, and I’ve been eager to read it for a while. I was able to get it in my July Book of the Month box*!

*If you sign up for Book of the Month using my referral link, we both get a free book! Sign up here.

Read a book that has five or more words in the title.

Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss – Kasie West

I’m almost done with all of Kasie West’s contemporary audiobooks… I don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out!

Read a book and watch a book-to-movie adaptation.

Crazy Rich Asians – Kevin Kwan

This has been on my TBR for way too long. I haven’t seen the movie yet either, so this is the perfect time to all the above. Plus, the audiobook is on Scribd!
