Over 100 bloggers have joined forces to bring you the #UltimateBlogTour, created by Dave at The Write Reads, featuring Ben Galley! For the next few days, you can find reviews on his four books all across the book community. The schedules for all the blogs and books will be at the end of this post.
Today, we’re bringing you more about The Written.

NOW A #1 BESTSELLER!
His name is Farden.
They whisper that he’s dangerous.
Dangerous is only the half of it.
A spellbook has gone missing from the libraries of Arfell – a very old and extremely powerful spellbook from the time of dark elves and demons. Five scholars are dead, the magick council is running out of time and options, and the Arka is once again on the brink of war with the Siren dragon-riders.
It falls to Farden the Written mage to keep the world from falling into chaos. Entangled in a web of lies and politics, Farden must recover the spellbook before an ancient enemy rises, even if it takes journeying halfway across icy Emaneska and back.
In his fight for answers, Farden will unearth a secret that not only shakes the foundations of his world, but threaten the entire future of Emaneska. Sorcery, death, drugs and the deepest of betrayals await.
Welcome to Emaneska.
Cait’s First Chapter Review
Because of everything going on right now, I didn’t get a chance to finish the book yet. So, I thought I would share my initial thoughts upon starting it.
This first chapter definitely caught my attention. It starts off with a group of scholars trying to unlock an ancient book. With the help of a mage, they finally manage to open it up, only to find it is a summoning manual for dark creatures. It’s a dangerous book, and it’s taken from the scholars after having killed them.
It’s very well-written, with vivid descriptions that really bring the reader into the story. Just within this small bit, I can tell it’s going to be a very intriguing story–one with a rich history and magical setting. There wasn’t enough to discuss the characters yet, but I’m sure if they will be well thought out and interesting.
I’m excited to continue reading this book!
