I love holidays. I’m like Buddy the Elf irl, but for more than just Christmas. Although I do love Christmas more than just about everything. I even have a mini purple Christmas tree up all year on one of my bookshelves. Easter is another favorite. It was always the one holiday we’d spend as a family going to church, playing outside, and getting along. There is just an all-around happiness surrounding this particular holiday when I look back on it.

A Touch of Gold – Annie Sullivan
This book kind of blew my mind. I wasn’t sure what to expect—I didn’t know the story of The Gold King. I ended up loving it so much that it was tied for my favorite book in 2018. It’s fantastic and I cannot wait for the next one!

A book so good you didn’t want it to end.
The Fates Divide – Veronica Roth
This duology was so much better than I was expecting. I was anxious about reading another series by Roth, but I absolutely loved it. It was one that I truly wish went on longer. I miss the characters, I miss listening to the audiobooks at night before falling asleep (Austin Butler’s voice is so soothing!). I just really want more. Roth created such an amazing universe with new worlds, and I think she could continue with their story.

Cheep, Cheep
A book you bought for super cheap.
I get a lot of books for free or on sale. I’m a big fan of the $1.99 Kindle sales, so I don’t know what to answer here. Just this month, I have bought or received 32 books for free and another handful under $5. I’m all about cheap books!

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue – Mackenzi Lee
There were a few books I debated between for this one, but I’m going to go with The Gentleman’s Guide because Monty and Percy are just so precious and I love them with all my heart. This was the other book that tied for my favorite in 2018. I listened to the audiobook twice, bought the ebook when it went on sale, and then bought a signed hardback from someone. To say it’s a new all-time favorite would be accurate.

A book that changed your life.
A Court of Mist and Fury – Sarah J. Maas
Does this surprise anyone? Probably not. Am I obsessed? Completely. This entire series just changed everything I knew about reading. It’s ultimately the reason why I started blogging. It sparked a new love for reading that has lead me to where I am now.

A book filled with so many surprises.
Empire of Storms – Sarah J. Maas
Is it a complete tag if I don’t list at least two SJM books? There were so many surprises, both good and bad. Actually, the whole last 30 pages or whatever is basically just like “Oh, you think things can’t get worse? SURPRISE!” repeatedly.
