Game of Thrones Book Tag

Hello! It’s Sunday, which means… it’s GAME OF THRONES day!! I am so excited, but so sad that the final season is premiering tonight. (Okay, I technically haven’t finished season 7–shhh)

In honor of this highly anticipated premiere, I thought I’d do the Game of Thrones Book Tag created by Biblio Nyan. I saw it done by Brittany over at Bookishly Britknee, and all the graphics are from TBR and Beyond. So thanks everyone for making this as awesome as it is.

I literally can’t think of any… The only thing that comes close is Twilight by Meg Cabot. I re-read The Mediator series like five-ish years ago and they were still good, but the last one didn’t give me that oh-my-gosh-squealing-with-so-many-feels feeling as it did when I read it the first few times. I still enjoyed it, though.

The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare, which was released this week. I received an ARC and absolutely loved it, but I’m still excited for my personalized signed copy to get here! Full review here.

This is not going to be surprising… A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I love my precious Illyrians/inner circle way more than I should. I mean, I named by kitten Azriel… Characters are the most important part of a story to me, so to feel so attached to basically everyone in the book was a big deal. Also, the plot is beautiful and makes me cry every time. Full review here.

I’m going to go with Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas. It didn’t so much piss me off as it completely destroyed my soul. I was every sort of emotion at the end of this book. It had been so good, and then things just started happening one-after-another. Every time I thought “It can’t get any worse,” I was proved wrong. It left me so hollow feeling that I couldn’t function the following day. Still thinking about it now almost makes me cry again.

So, so many… I’m going with In Camelot’s Shadow by Sarah Zettel because I’ve literally had the book since middle school. My paperback looks rough, as it’s made it through a dozen moves between houses and dorms, but it’s still here. In fact, I know exactly where it is. I tried reading it a couple times back then, but it was too intimidating for me. I struggled to stay focused and always quit like 10-20 pages in. Looking at it now, though, I’m fairly certain I’d love it. I don’t think I’d have any trouble and I want to try again. After all, it’s been over a decade and I not only read a lot more in general but I read a lot more fantasy.

I don’t read really graphic or disturbing books. I started Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi once, and I fell asleep after reading one chapter and had nightmares, so…

I have to say the entire The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare. Everyone knows I love the Shadowhunter books–it’s my thing. I’ve re-read The Mortal Instruments several times, but I didn’t re-read The Infernal Devices until last year. It had been like five years since I read it originally and wow. It was so much better than I remembered! I loved it the first time, but the second time I kept noticing little things that reflect on the other series and it just amazed me. I’m re-reading them again for #READShadowhunters, and I just love it so much!
